Facebook ‘like’ goes places!

April 29th, 2010 3 Comments

After ‘Become a Fan’ changing to ‘Like’, Facebook now has a plan which infiltrates the entire web space. Facebook has introduced social plugins and personalized web tools to be used across the internet.

What happens exactly?

According to Facebook
, a plethora of ‘like’ and ‘recommend’ buttons have been introduced for the web. So, any website implements these buttons and users can click on them to prove that they are interested. This information gets recorded and when your friend visits the same site, he/ she can see that you have ‘liked’ it.

Also all these activities get recorded on your activity feeds and friends can see a consolidated list on FB.

Framework for Restaurant to use Social Media

April 28th, 2010 0 Comments

Walk up to Frankies, pay him Rs. 30/-, he will get you a non veg roll. If you like the food, you will go back. You are certain to tell your friends about the place. Next time they are around they are sure to try it out.

Your restaurant business works very similar to this. People pay for food and of course for the experience. They share their experiences with their friends, the conversation that they had with your restaurant. Experience becomes a conversation.

Social media is about interactions. It’s a one to one conversation that has the ability to generate many to many conversations amongst a group of friends and online buddies, a trusted community.

What the new Facebook “like” means to brands

April 22nd, 2010 0 Comments

The Facebook fan page functionality has been altered. From now on ‘Become a fan’ is extinct and instead pages will have ‘like’ in its position.

Basically, the wording has a Twitter-isque connotation where if you want to follow a particular brand’s news feeds, you ‘like’ the brand’s page.

The event started promptly at 9 30 am and people were diligently visiting the 100 stalls and trying to understand what each firm did. There were representatives from the biggest MNCs to the newest startups.

Social Media is not a Magic Bullet but it’s speed can be measured.

March 15th, 2010 0 Comments

So lets be real people. Social Media is not something which can just magically double your sales and bring more traffic to your website. Here is what social media CAN’T achieve :

  • Multiply your web traffic in 3 months.
  • Make your brand/product a household name in a matter of time
  • Be a complete marketing solution that solves all your needs and eliminate the need for all other channels.

While social media is great, it requires a lot of analysis, planning, continuous work, commitment and support from other marketing channels to be successful. Social media is not about tools, its about a approach.

IF YOU DONOT BRAND YOURSELF SOMEBODY WILL …

February 16th, 2010 1 Comments

Branding yourself is so essential in today’s world where everybody is closely connected. I realized the importance of this in the tough way, after loosing couple of clients just because I did not make the right first impression. This has been one of my most important learning’s as an entrepreneur.

Key to mastering self-marketing is to perfect an eloquent and descriptive introduction of yourself and your position. This strategic tool, commonly known as the “Elevator Speech,” can be your best approach in professional networking situations and those rare moments when opportunities arise to create strategic new allies.

I recently got to know about the event “Pitch yourself” which basically helps entrepreneurs brand themselves in a way that we make right impressions the first time. We are all very excited and looking forward for this event.
